Welcome Honeywell Home and Honeywell Home TCC Smart Thermostat Owners!

If you receive electricity from Fort Collins Utilities, own a single-family home that uses a Honeywell Home or Honeywell Home TCC Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostat to control your central air conditioner or heat pump, you can receive $100 for enrolling in the Fort Collins Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, plus $50 every year you participate.

How It Works

Fort Collins Utilities wants to lower the City’s peak electric demand during the hottest summer afternoons when everyone cranks up their AC at the same time. During those peak hours – generally between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. from May 1st to September 30th – Fort Collins Utilities may occasionally need to implement a conservation event, which usually lasts two to four hours. During the 5-month period (May – September), no more than 20 conservation events can be called, only one event per day is allowed, and events can occur on weekdays and weekends.

During a conservation event, your Honeywell Home or Honeywell Home TCC smart thermostat will receive a signal to cycle your AC more often so that your compressor (the energy hog) operates half the time it normally would. Your fan remains on throughout, keeping you cool.

Why Enroll?

Honeywell Home and Honeywell Home TCC smart thermostats help lower costs and can help conserve when energy savings are most needed.

Every kilowatt of electricity saved during a conservation event helps:

  • Keep the City’s electricity rates lower over the long term.
  • Reduce the amount of carbon emissions and other pollutants associated with peak power generation.
  • Contribute to our planning for future flexible electricity resources.
